I have a question regarding Nero Recode 2. I have the most recent Nero Ultra updates. I use CloneDVD2, Shrink, ANYDVD, and even DVDXCOPY Express. I put my source DVD in the DVD ROM drive of my computer (Dell Dimension 8400) and the blank in my External Plextor PX-716UF Drive. Using Clone, or Shrink, I never have any ripping problems. However, when I try to use Recode I get an error that says it will not work with the Windows file System and apparently cannot find any of the files in the Video_TS folder. I have searched this problem and have seen that other users get the same message, but I have found no solutions for it. Can anybody help? My other programs work fine using the same approach. I don't really need to use Recode for this purpose, but am curious as to why it fails. I am using XP Home with SP2.

Nero Recode can not, and will never bypass the CSS protection.

I am aware of that. As I mentioned I have ANYDVD. The problem is independent of copyright. I have tried copy protected and non copy protected DVDs. With the copy protected I do use ANYDVD just as I would when using CloneDVD2. Also, I failed to mention that if I just use the Plextor as the source, Recode does not have a problem ripping. It is only with the DVD-ROM drive that it generates an error message. My normal approach is to put the source disk in the DVD Read only drive and the blank in the burner. This problem, per the internet search, is not unique to my system. It is not that I need to use recode it is just that I would like to understand the problem and maybe correct it. Thanks for any help.

Ahh...
Sorry, but you were not precise in your question, and since you lumped DVD Shring, CloneDVD2, etc...together, I naturally assumed you were talking about content on the Hard Drive.
What your refering too is the issue with Recode not seeing Titles contained in the Video_TS folder. For the most part, this is only associated with the 'Remake a DVD' option, not for 'Recode an Entire DVD to DVD', and that is a known issue that will, based on our tests, be resolved in the next release of our Nero Recode software.
The fact that in your case it works with your recorder and not your DVD-ROM drive would indicate this is possibly a completely different issue. We can know this for sure till the new release of Nero Recode comes out and you see if it resolves your issue or not.

Sorry for not being more clear. I did try most of the other options and I got the same results. It is always possible there is a S/W conflict, but Recode is the only DVD copy program I have that generates an error. I will wait for the next upgrade and retry it then. Thank you for your help. It strange that it works with the burner though.

What model is your DVD-ROM drive? It could be our software has trouble with that drive specifically.

Hi. After installing Nero Vision Express 3.1.0.0 I had the same problem with the titles not being read. In the end I had to unistall this update and went back to 3.0.1.27 and it was working fine again. I tried unistalling Nero and reinstalling the new update again but the problem came back so I am sticking with the older version.
I use DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter and the Nero OEM suite that came with my Pioneer dvr-108 burner.

CCampbell, have you had a chance to determine what is causing my problem with Recode? My DVD-ROM drive is: Liteon JLMS-DVD-ROM XJ-HD166. The computer is a Dell Dimension 8400. Earlier in this thread I described the same problem others have regarding Recode not being able to see the files on my DVD-ROM drive, but having no problem on my Plextor PX-716UF burner. I have just downloaded the latest updates from Nero (no changes to the Recode revs) and still have the problem.

I have found a fix for my above mentioned problem. Based on what other people have done, I renamed the ndvddisc.dll to *.bak. This fixed the problem. Thanks to all for this work around.

I found this solution.
But on my system it's the 'dvddisc.dll' (to rename or delete).
I'm using ME.
Maybe XP users should delete/rename 'ndvddisc.dll'
and 9X/ME users the 'dvddisc.dll' instead.
(I'm not sure. Just found this trick).

Have you checked to see if the File I/O in the Recode configuration is set to SPTI/ASPI ? If the Windows Filesystem is the option that is showing try changing it to SPTI/ASPI.

Hi DHoward,
Sorry for taking so long to respond, I was traveling and could not get many of my Emails, or attend any forums. :-(
I did finally obtain a sample of your drive so that I could see if I can duplicate your issue, but even now that I have the same model Lite-On drive, I am not able to duplicate this issue with a fresh install of our Nero Recode software.
I know you've found a work around, but I'll keep trying to isolate this issue so that hopefully we can resolve it in a future release.
