Converting .vob to .avi/.mpg

I'm hoping this is the correct forum to be using for this query!

How do you convert a .vob file to .avi or .mpg? What software do you use? I have Nero 6 (fully registered). I just want the main part of the film, no extra's or anything.

Advice appreciated!!

Try Mpeg Mediator for AVIs, and Mpeg2Cut for MPG. These are both Freeware programs. When opening your VOB files from within each program, just pick the first VOB of the set and the program will load the full set (all the VOBs of the main movie).
Make sure you have AVI codecs for Mpeg Mediator installed on your computer.

OK i have a similar question. How do you convert avi's to the type of file DVD Shrink needs?(i believe its .ifo?)
