My PC will not recognize DVD-Rs

I installed a new micro advantage 16x dual layer dvd burner on my PC i was able to burn 1 moovie an 1 game with no problems. after those were completed i tried to burn another disc . Before i put tyhe blank verbatim dvdr+ disc in the icon for the drive was "DVD-R Drive" after i put the dics in the drive went to " cd drive" and free space 0 byte total space 0 bytes" i tried 2 other blank dvdr medias HP- and TDK same problem. all the discs worked fine on my other computer. i updated the firmware same problem. the burner works fine in my other computer and my other burner a Memorex 8x also doesnt work in my computer please any help will be appreciated
