heres the situation...

i'm working on a v4-v7 (not for sure which one though) and i've disassembled the ps2, used canned air, cleaned the laser with a Zeiss optics cleaning wipe, and lubricated the rails the the laser travels on. thankfully, it's not my ps2 but it's a co-workers and i figured that neither of us had much to lose but a whole working ps2 to gain if i can get it working. anyway, so i reassemble the ps2 and tried copies of 2 working games i own, GT3 and Ace Combat 4. Both discs, when loaded, make about 3 or 4 clicking noises and then the 'Browser' just says 'Reading disc' and doesn't disappear! now I was told that it did this even before i worked on it so what you all think? is it the laser itself? do you all think it's toast cuz with the ticking sounds...that's what i'm lead to believe it is. thanks for the replies!
