Please, Experienced Pro Mod Installers respond ONLY.
I don?t care about price. I am looking for:
1) Mod that I don?t have to swap disc
2) Mod that will let me play online
3) Most important Mod is Stability, I don?t want a dead PS2
Who makes the best Mod chip to date? I will have a professional install for me, but want to know from a second opinion and not the guy that will sell me the chip and do the work.
I already made the mistake purchasing the HD Advance 2.0. Spent all that money and don?t even have a back up of my disc incase of hard drive failure. Doesn?t play all games! Yes, I know about winhiip and then what? spend hundreds more on new hard drives each time one fills up. Not worth the cost. I am selling the HD Advance 2.0 and now going to mod my PS2 to make DVDr back ups. Thank you in advance for your help.
Messiah works a treat.ive had mine for about 3 years.never had a single backup that wont work.no swapping,no bootups no nothing.
only gripe with it is that it doesnt support PAL and NTSC so depending on where you are,the other format will play in black and white unless you patch or your tv supports both.
if your not playing imports,id say the Messiahs perfect,if you are and your tv doesnt support both PAL and NTSC and you dont wanna bother with patching then i'd look into getting the Magic chip.
put a little trust into the guy thats doing it for ya.hes not gonna lie,he probably does it for a living and doesnt wanna spend his time having to replace people ps2s and deal with complaints.

Ok, Guess I wasn't clear enough. I live in California and only have legal games for region 1(NTSC). Not planning on doing anything outside of the Law. Want to make copies of what I have bought at the store and play them no differently than the original. I understand in these treads I can pull the ID and DNAS files and reinstall them on the DVDr copy. I just want the best Mod chip for region 1 that will allow me to play online and I understand that the magic 3.1 is a sleeper chip that will not be detected online. Is this true?
you do not need a spacific chip to play patched backups online , but you will need 1 with sleep to play origonals online . if you only want it for playing backups get the duo2 se . if you want extra features in the chip like flash and memcard exploit get the matrix infinity . stay away from the magic3 because magic stoped making them a long time ago so the only 1s you will find now are cheap clones , not to mention that chip is old and out of date .
Thank you for all your advice. I find it invaluable. Would you explain a bit about this flash and memcard exploit. how I might I find these features useful in the future. ON my computer I know I can flash the bios but this will be in the PS2 and I am not sure what the memcard exploit does.
