DVD ripping for Quiz night

I'm in the middle of setting a quiz night for family and friends for this coming Saturday (16th April) and I'm having a lot of trouble ripping a couple of minutes from DVD for an observation round.

I'm using a trial version of AoA DVD Ripper and at the moment the ripped footage is grainy.

Can anyone guide me to the best bit of free software and guide on how to do this.

perhaps what i should make clear is that i only want to take less than 5 minutes from a single DVD (5 DVD's in total), to my hard drive, and then burn them back onto a single DVD.

Here's hoping someone can help.

Try DVD Shrink in reauthor mode - guides and software available by clicking on appropriate tabs at top of this page.
