Ok, so I backed up one of my games onto a DVD-R using DVD Decryter....and it didnt work in my ps2 and it sounds like i need a mod chip? Is that true? If so what chip should i get...im not really worried about the price. Thanks

DMS4 or the matrix infinity. I use the dms and can now play duel layer games. Don't know if the matrix will or not. I've ordered a bunch of chips from modchipman and he's got the best prices I've found so far. You better do some research on the installation if you plan on doing it yourself. May be better off buying a premod. Good luck.

Some of the sites that sell mod chips also sell playstation 2's that already have the modchip installed. So they're premods.

hey i was just in your shoes a little while ago.. but here is what i recommend do not buy a magic chip like a magic V(5) or 3.1 pluse cause i just tried to put in a magic 3.1 pluse into my ps2 and i folled every direction it said.. i took my time to do it.. it took me so long it took me like 3 hours to mod it and it messed up my ps2 all i got is like a black screen and that is it it does that even when i took the chip out too. So if u are planing to buy i chip i would recommend either getting one that u do not have to solder or been premod... oh and one more thing i would not recommend buying your chip from modchip.com because it says it would take 5-8 days to get your order but it took me almost a month to get mine and they prices arnt the best going around

I've had this happen when I first started out. It ended up being a SMALL piece of solder in between the bios legs. The only way I seen it was with a mag. glass. The best way to go would be to get a head set. I got my head set from Harbor Freight and Tools for $6 and I also picked up a desoldering braid from Radio Shack. Try cleaning out between the legs that you tried soldering to and double check all of your other points. Clean them as good as you can with the braid. Also, go between the legs with a razor blade. Use the square kind, like for scrapers and not the box cutter type. You can GENTLY "dig out" between the legs. Worked great for me.

DMS4 all the way. But hey, you may not "have" to get a mod-chip. Look at all your options, Swap Magic, Hd Advance, lots of cool stuff out there.

GetItRepaired.com-DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM
I order a Pre-modified Slim Pstwo on 4-6 by electronic check from Getiitrepaired. By 4-8 the check had cleared with my bank and the money was in Getitrepaired hands. All testimonials and reviews stated that orders were received within a week?s time or in a very timely fashion.
After 8 days, I decided to send an email to see when my order would ship, it was very cordial and to the point. I was responded to in a very demeaning and aggressive. On 4-13 I inquired as to the status of my order via E-mail, I received nothing but bad attitude and false answers. After giving them the names of people to talk to at my bank w/numbers, they still failed to verify my payment. This is the worst experience I have had ordering any ps2 parts, except from modchip.com. They also remove any negative reviews about their company.
I would never do business with these shysters unless you feel like waiting ages and being treated like a second rate citizen. Now they want a 50% restocking fee due to the fact their customer service has been insulting and aggressive.
