I have heard a chip called Matrix Infinity SE v1.38.
Is it a real one or just a bad chip?

the infinity SE is a clone boy, if you gonna use it don't update or enter the menu. thats all and the chip will work as the the real infinity

it does exact the same thing as the original infinity, but the only thing you shouldn't is updating or changing the config. if you don't the chip works great. everything direct boots, you should check the infinity homepage

Clone Schmone, Clones are Clones, They use the same Hex, Thus they shouldnt be any diffrent, unless they use a diffrent chip its practically 100% the same. Your Ps2 wont know the diffrence ;)

The architecture of the chips hardware is different, it may use the same initial hex file (code) for whatever version the clone is designed for when you try to flash the chip good luck ;) you?re probably going to be looking at a paperweight that used to be your ps2.
