NEC ND-3450A burner and Nero software problem

I have a Dell 8400 PC with a NEC ND-3450A DVD+-RW recorder in it that's not working properly, or is it. Here's my problem: I have the latest version of Nero with all of the current updates installed. I would like to use the DVD recorder so I can drag and drop files through internet explorer using InCD4. I'm not able to format the Memorex DVD +R discs and use it this way. Is the problem that the burner is not supported of the mount rainer technologies or something else.

One thing I noticed about my system is that on the Dell website it shows that I should have the Philips Chassis 2001 dvd burner installed. I don't know if that one is better or not.

Any help I can get would be much appreciated.
