Has anyone been able to successfully backup Jade Empire? I have the entire game FTP to my hard drive and it is 6.13GB. I was looking around each directory to see if there is anything I could delete such as foreign language video or audio files.

Saw this on the net..

Jade Empire XBOX DVD5 Movie Kit (ave-jademoviekit)
April 15th, 2005

For the dvd9 release, delete the demo directory, alternate languages,
and simply replace the movies with these downsampled ones.

Movies downsampled 40%, some not at all.

Will turn 6.13GB into 4.37GB

Probably used Rad Video Tools ( http://www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm )

Do I have a link to the down graded video files? No, I don't. If I did, would I be able to post it here? Probably not.

Here's what I did to make a working copy of the game on 2 dvd5 (one for the female characters and one for the male characters)

I learned this from another forum, and it works. Break the game's movies down into 2 discs. One game will be for the male characters. The other game for the females.

Go download the Radtools to see the movies. http://www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm

go into the movies folder and arrange them by size.

Now, in there are movies that end with an A,B,C,D,E,F,G (I believe that Ming's files sometimes have no letter attached at the end...check with Radtools (movie viewer) to double check the movies to delete)

Here is the breakdown for movies:

Male Characters:
A= Ming (also shows up as no letter)
B= Tiger
E= Lu
F= Monk

So basically you want to delete all A,B,E, and F movie files to make the all girl character disc.

Female Characters:
C= Jenzi
D= Ling
G= Wu

And you want to delete C,D, and G movie files to make the all guy version of the game.

*ALSO DELETE* Spanish folder, Italian folder, Demo folder and the credits movie

Now you're done. I used Craxtion4 and patched it as well.
I made the girl version and it played just fine. Wound up being like 4.69 gig in size.

I followed this method except I tried to make the "guys disc" and it also turned out to be 4.68GB in size. When I tried burning this to a disc it would not fit onto the DVD-R so how did you get it to fit?

I try my first DVD+R DL with Jade Empire and it work great I was going to spilt it in two (guy disk) (girl disk) but i had ordered some Verbatim DVD+R DL for Splinter Cell 3: Chaos Theory then i read how to get rid of the PAL files so i never try the DL disks at $5.00 each so I wanted to know it it works fine

It worked fine for me. As for the guy disc...you need to make sure you have every single file deleted you need to. Go through using the movie viewer and see if you missed anything.

There is always the newsgroups and you could download the compressed movie versions and do a full version of the game. Good luck

i figured it out. i had to change the book type of my DVD+R DL to DVD-ROM. Runs now but the audio skips and the game locks up sometimes. Im thinking ill just downsize the movies and put it on a DVD-R.
