Hey does anyone know how to convert the 5v through the usb to 12v going into a harddrive? I want to have the 3.5' run of the usb plug in an external enclosure.

The external drive enclosure should already have it's own power source and therefore not need to pull power from the PS2. If that's not the case you will need to get an enclosure that does.

I'm afraid you are just stuck with it. USB ports simply do not support 12V. If you were to modify it for 12V operation it would burn out anything else you plug into it.

nope. USB port only deliver 5 volts. Try to change this and u end up frying the board or whatever compo' u attach. What I Would like to kno is, hy cant we save game data on USB drives instead of those skimpy 8mb memory cards . . .

There's ways to save games on a USB Jumpdrive on the old PS2's using AR Max EVO but I don't know if it works on the V12. I think you're out of luck with the hard drive though
