Hi,

I have a ps2 model number SCPH-30003, which i do believe is either version number 4 or 5, have been looking at getting the DMS4 E.Z.I chip for my ps2, but need to verify that a) the dms4 is compatible, and b) the romeo mod is not necessary unless i have either version 9 or 10.

Is this just as simple as putting in my solderless chip and off i go or is there any other protection i need to do to protect my laser.

Don't worry about your laser, only v12 ps2's have that problem. It is not hard to install, but if you are worried check out this site, http://webpages.charter.net/modchipzone/

This guy installed ps2 chips into a few of my friends ps2's and did some great work! It only cost $40 as well, and that was the cheapest price we could find!
