I think you're asking how long it took to upgrade a Matrix Infinity to 1.4? It took me about a minute. Literally. It's no big deal. Burn it onto a CDR and turn it on then it will tell you to press a button.

tbone1980 is right, the process should take all of about 1 minute.

I'm trying to recall if there is even any indication it is done or not. The sure fire way of course is to reset after trying to flash the firmware and read the subscript under the "PlayStation" text that comes up on boot, there should be a little 1.4 under it. Otherwise another version 1.39, 1.36 etc will show up there if it is not flashing correctly.

Then your chip isn't Infinity. Have you tried to play backups after failed updating, if your chip was Mobdo clone then it's now probably fucked up.

I have the Infinity Matrix chip. I cant play back up copies of my games . When i put in my backup it says "Please insert PS2 disc". The only way i can get to any infinity screen is when i tap X on start up and even then it keeps saying "illegal disc inserted" when i try to put in backup copy. I tried flashing the chip but it just keeps saying "Please insert PS2 disc" when i put in my flash CD. Can anybody help me please :( .Any suggestions would be helpful.
