Ok everyone says Decrypter, so thats what im using. I would jsut like to know if I am doing this right or not.
1. Start DVD Decrypter
2. Mode - ISO - Read
3. Select the Destination
4. Push the Read button. Is this all I have to do to back it up?
If so, I am left with a .ISO and a .MDS file, is this correct?

Thanks 2ps2,
So now,
1. Load DVD Decrypter
2. Go to Mode - ISO - Write
3. Pick the ISO file (the MDS file is worthless?)
and then I have a Back-up Copy? and then with my swap magic disc and this disc I will beable to play it?
Thanks alot
P.S If anyone knows anything about the program Blindwrite would this program also work?

Use Quality Media I use
Verbatim dvd+r
***** BURN AT NO MORE THAN 2X****** <-----------(IMPORTANT)
TURN OFF ANY BACKGROUND APPLICATIONS
1. Take the ps2 game put it in the dvd rom or dvd burner, your choice.
2. open the dvd decryptor program then go to to tool bar and hit MODE>ISO>READ. Then choose the correct dvd drive that the game is in as the "source". Also choose where you want the files to be stored on the pc hdd. THEN CLICK DECRYPT , or the huge graphical picture at the bottom of the program which makes it run. The game is now copying to your HDD. Take the game out when finished (it might take a while).
3. Go to the same tab in dvd decryptor and choose MODE>ISO>WRITE. This will then let you look for the files you just created in step 2. Select the file that you just created. (There is only 2 files creadted so pick the .mds) (The smaller file)Then click WRITE, make sure there is blank DVD in the drive.

You select the .mds file.
Then decrypter will do the rest.
(you need both the .mds and the .iso)
MDS = Media description and settings file.
It holds information related to the .iso
and how to reciprocate it properly.
then decrypter burns the .iso (automatically)
Based of the settings in the .mds.

Hi guys,
I tried the Decrypter 2Xwrite method on a Verbatim DVD+RW disc which failed loading on the PS2. Could anyone please maybe answer some of these Qs:
Can the PS2 read DVD+RW at all? It has boot chip DMS3 installed back in autumn 2003 (ver ?). Will a flash upgrade to version 2.3 help, or does it require newer bootchips ? Would it help using DVD+R instead ?
I have a DVD+RW in my computer, so I suppose i cannot write DVD-R.

I don't think ps2's like RW media, just use +r or -r's.
As for burning with decrypter, just select the .mds file to burn. Otherwise, decrypter should select it for you if you tried to select the .iso file instead.

actually I use 8x's write speed and run other programs and they burn fine. I also choose the iso file in decrypter
Always live in the now... you never know when you won''t wake up. I own swap magic version 3.6 and use dvd decrypter and alcohol 120%.

PS2 games are actually pressed DVD/CD discs, they are not burned. PS2 games use the Burst Cutting Area (BCA) of the disc to identify themselves to the PS2 unit. The BCA is not part of a disc that you can burn on, it is only replicated on pressed discs.
So, the only way to play backups is to get boot-discs or a mod-chip.
