recording from Vcr to DivX

Hi

I'm quite new to this, and i got some vcr's i would like to get into DivX and then if possible convert it to Mpg. Mosthly live concerts. I've seen some good quality on mpg that's around 1 hour and fits on a cd. I'm using virtualdub to capture from divx and the Divx Mpeg low motion codex. My biggest problem so far is the square on the screen after i've compressed the file. If there is anyway to get it fixed? Probably i'm just having wrong settings/codex. I'm using a Gainward 4600 card if that would be another problem? I´ve been looking around on some forums but that hasen't solved my problems

it could be that I'm not familiar in this area, but could you be a bit more detailed about the square and your problem in general?
