Problems at boot up

I wasn't sure what thread to put this under, I apologize if its in the wrong one. I recently started backing up my ps2 games and had it working using Memorex ProdiscF01 Dvd-Rs. However, the games would only boot up if i used Alcohol 120% to both create and burn the image. It would not work with DVD Decrypter or Nero 6 (the newest edition). I then purchased some Maxwell RitekG04's made in Taiwain and those would not boot up (my PS2 would not even read them when burned with a movie.) I then purchased a sample pack from Rima.com (Taio Yuden, Ritek, Prodisc, Princo, Optidisc) and none of the Dvd-R's would boot up (I burned them using the same method as i did for the memorex (and I tried using DVD Decrypter). I have yet to try the Dvd-RW's, but the -R's should have worked. The Taio Yuden x16 (TYG03) Dvd's and the Ritek 8x (RitekG05) Dvds would boot up (to a black screen) and then freeze. I am using Swap Magic 3.3 with a flip top on a V7 PS2, the game I tried burning on the discs was one that I had working on the Memorex discs, so I know that game has no issues that require patches and so forth (the games I tried are Legaia 2 and Sukoden 3) My Dvd burner is an Artec VOM-12E48X with the most up to date firmware applied. Any ideas? Any help would be very greatly appreciated, this problem is driving me crazy.
