Someone plzz help me! I want to backup dvd ps2 games and i have tryed dvd+r verbatim, memorex, sony, and tdk discs. I have dvd decryper and the lowest speed i can burn at is 2.4x, i dont no if its my drive that makes burn at least that speed. Anyway, the copy i burned wony play in my ps2, i have swap magic v3.6, i can play cdr game copies fine, but i need to know how to burn a copy of a dvdr game using dvd+r discs(the only thing my drive works with is dvd+r). Plz give me step by step instructions. The games ive tryed to back up are: DBZ Sagas, Narutimate Hero 2(import), and Metal gear Solid 3.

you need to update the firmware on the drive,(the drive doesnt recognise the dvd media you are using,
if you dont want to upgrade the firmware, check on the nec site for the drives compatiblities with media
you need to go to the official web page for NEC
and find the download for the model for the burner.THE EXACT MODEL
then flash it

check with DVD Decrypter for the firmware you have already

tools>drive>check for firmware updates

you can use the link it gives, buts it may not be not official

I checked the capabilities of my write again through DVD Decrypter, and i miss-read before, it says i can read dvd-r, but not write to dvd-r. I found a firmware for it and installed it to be sure, but still nothing.

I have a Pioneer 107 in my Mac G4 and its great. 8x speed. Now you can get the dual layer burners that write 16x for around $100 bucks at best buy after rebate.

this might sound like an absurdly dumb question, but by any chance did you use the cd swap magic disc to boot the games?it has happened before they look the same as the dvd sm disc,if your not paying attention to the label.

i reread this thread and you said you had a slim ps2,which is a newer model.so it should read dvd+r.so trying to get dvd-r copies for it shouldnt be the issue.if you do want dvd-r copies you can book type your dvd+r to dvd rom using decrypter.alot of people book type their dvd+r this way to make them more compatible with other players.
