yes most game will copy like this,
but some games need patching or rebuilding (dvd-9, gold of war, etc.)
this depends on what ps2 you have and what modchip.
i have a old magic 3.1 in my v2 ps2 and havent had to patch a single game,
but i had to rebuild some like god of war

DVD Decryptor
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/dawnload.cfm?mirror=0&software_id=298
Use Quality Media I use
Verbatim dvd+r
***** BURN AT NO MORE THAN 2X****** <-----------(IMPORTANT)
TURN OFF ANY BACKGROUND APPLICATIONS
1. Take the ps2 game put it in the dvd rom or dvd burner, your choice.
2. open the dvd decryptor program then go to to tool bar and hit MODE>ISO>READ. Then choose the correct dvd drive that the game is in as the "source". Also choose where you want the files to be stored on the pc hdd. THEN CLICK DECRYPT , or the huge graphical picture at the bottom of the program which makes it run. The game is now copying to your HDD. Take the game out when finished (it might take a while).
3. Go to the same tab in dvd decryptor and choose MODE>ISO>WRITE. This will then let you look for the files you just created in step 2. Select the file that you just created. (There is only 2 files creadted so pick the .mds) (The smaller file)Then click WRITE, make sure there is blank DVD in the drive.

wait Jizmak
shouldnt u use the bigger file seeing thats the actual game and all, and see the other one is only like 44.5kbs that would be a waste of a dvd!!!

It burns the .iso mot the .mds.
Using Dvd decypter you select the .mds.
If you dont it (dvd decrpter) will select it for you.
Other programs like Alcohol 120% WONT however.
MDS= M media D description s System
It contains the data about the .iso thats not contained in the .iso
Its a good thing and ABSOLUTELY NEEDED.
good luck :)

Ive used the rebuild method for everygame ive backup'd and never had any probs. Alot of people would think this is silly, but i dont mind doing it. And plus sometimes, with rebuilding, i can get 2-3 games on 1 DVD-R. Saving even more moneys that way :-p
Playstation 2 ---- Matrix Infinity
Gamecube --------- Ninja Mod
Xbox 360 --------- Firmware Hack
