When the second pass is to start, virtualDub displays this message "Fatal error-colud not open log file for reading", when I doubleclick the 2.nd pass in the job control menu, it displays this message "Job stopped whit the folloving message-Unable to start video compression error: bad format (-2)"
Can u please help me? Tnx:)

I hope you didn't delete any of the files after the first pass was completed?

And as you probably already understood from the error msg, it very likely relates to one of these problems:

-you have deleted some files before the 2nd pass is about to begin (you can't delete _any_ files before the whole process is complete)
-you changed the logfile setting in the DivX's first or second pass settings (leave it as it is; c:\divx.log (for DivX5))

No i didn't delete no files after the first pass, not eaven before. And i looked for the logfile settings and they are ok, c:\divx.log. Shoud I turn on the option Protec "log/mv files" on? mv location is c:\mvinfo.bin
Tnx for repling so soon,u have great gide, and forum.

Your problem is actually really simple -- when changing the settings for the first pass, you've forgot to change the VBR mode from 1-pass to 2-pass, first pass.

Did you split it using the keyframes?

i figured out my problem, but i have another one. I converted a divx to an mpeg and used the merge and cut feature to edit the movie. I selected the output, hit the "correct" button to eliminate errors, and then hit run. But then it never does anything, it says like seeking ....... and it stays at 0%. Do you have any help for this? Then once in a while it will say "producing video stream" and the seconds keep going up, but it always stays at 0% Why?
