when I try to convert several avi's to mpeg1, i seem to have problems with divx 5.0 files only. in my project (http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/184047)
, 2 out of 6 avi's are divx5. i can play them without any problems, gspot tells me that all codecs are installed. (i tells me that the XviD codec is used for MPEG4 compression/decompression).
when converted to MPEG1, the first divx5 file gives no sound whereas the second one has no video and only audio. what's going on? i tried to find an answer here but so far couldn't find anything that's hittin my problem on the spot.
GSpot cannot help you, if you can hear compressed (like AC3) sounds. It's TMPGenc who cannot load it.

I kaap to believe that thet movie has
AC3 (Dolby Surround) which usually cannot be converted to MP2 ([S]VCD audio) by the encoders. To be sure, open the AVI with VirtualDubMod and do Stream__Stream List. Which audio stream do you have? Maybe there exist other formats that TMPGenc, or other encoders, cannot convert.
If the problem is similar to 2), try reading he answer to problem 2) in http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/129217 , to fix it.
I cannot help you on the issue 'no video but only audio'. It seems you miss a video codec, but GSpot should tell you what you need...
