Is there a way to backup PS2 games and use them without modifications to the game system?

yes you can use swap magic.swap magic is a boot disc.i think you need to use either a slide trick or fliptop tho.

Yup, you have to use a slide card or use a flip top lid (well unless you ghetto rig something up that can pull out your cd/dvd rom tray)

To answer the question. NO
If you do not mod your system in some way you will not be able to play back ups. And it depends on which type of system you have, older chunky or new slim as to which mod you need. You will need Swap Magic with either one.
