Does anyone know of a program that lets you adjust the bitrate of VOB files? I have ReMPEG2 but it seems to only be for .mpg files.... anyone know of a proggie that will let you lower the bitrate of VOB files? (so that they're smaller and'll fit on a 4.7gb disc)

I am just gettin into this one myself, there is a good guide available on vcdhelp.com.

I shall be using rempeg also.

Regarding your mpg files(rempeg).

According to the guide if you rip with smartripper you can demux everything you need aswell in one go which leaves u with:
m2v(video) and ac3(audio) and rempeg should work with these files.

Check out the guide, if I have a look I shall post the link.

I tried the demux option with DVD Decrypter but it just gave me .m2v files. Hmph... I'll try SmartRipper.

So what's the process, rip with SmartRipper and demux, load into ReMpeg and lower the bitrate, then use something else to remux, then burn? (I wish someone would write a program that would do ALL this in one shot :) I'm loosing track with all these little programs that do different jobs :)

Right found the guide.
vcdhelp.com
choose how to rip - left side.
scroll to NEWBIE DVD2DVDR and select
slect ifoedit guide and it is all there.

Pretty sure rempeg will leave u with a NEW m2v file and remux/author with ifoedit.

Going to give that a shot next week, but with just one vob file first(will be quicker) just to see if everything looks good and in sync.

I have heard people have had some problems with the audio sync. sink so better try on a small file first.

Yep it would be easier if there was just ONE good program to do it but don't u find it really interesting manipulating everything.

I have been doing this for 2 months and its bin a steep learning curve but well worth it.
Afterall it IS rocket science.

Thanks, I've bookmarked it and will go through line by line when I have some more time. I have an Mpeg2 hardware encoder so for the time being I can do it the easy way :) (just capture the entire movie to mpeg2 and burn :^) No orig. menus/subs/languages but it works. Anyhoo, thanks!
