ps2 v7 laser problem please help

I have been having a problem getting my fliptop with swap magic 3.3 cd to boot. I tried adjusting the little white thingy, that helped some. Then I decided to run some other test on it and found that my cd ohms setting wont stay at a stable setting. It's set to around 1126 ohms minute later when I tested it again it was at 1533 ohms. It doesnt matter where I set it (950-1200 ohms) it keeps going up and down. Does anyone have any advise on what I should do next. Laser, Laser ribbon, Power supply?
By the way I have issues with the dvd stuff at all works great.

clean the lens.and adjust the white dial(the lens height)to the original position.

now,did you try both the cd and dvd versions of swap magic to make sure they both work/
