HI I downloaded a game which was smaller than 700mb so I decided to put it onto CDR - obviously it wasn't going to be that easy (of course it didn;t work)

All that was downloaded was a folder containing a .mdf file which was about 228mb and a .mds file which is just 1kb, how do I make this game work on my PS2? can someone please help me? what files are needed for the PS2 to recognise the game?

many thanks!

PS2 games are actually pressed DVD/CD discs, they are not burned. PS2 games use the Burst Cutting Area (BCA) of the disc to identify themselves to the PS2 unit. The BCA is not part of a disc that you can burn on, it is only replicated on pressed discs.

So, the only way to play backups is to get boot-discs or a mod-chip.

Use Alcohol 120%.
Select the .mds file (the smaller file).
And burn away.

hi, I don't quite understand your reply... what do you mean "select" the .mds file? do I put the larger file in a folder and leave the .mds file outside? is there a guide to do this?

thanks

Using Alcohol 120% for PS1/PS2

1. Start Alcohol 120%
2. Look for your .mds file (Make sure BOTH files are in the same folder)
3. Select your Image location and Name for it, press Next
4. Select you Writer, Write Speed and anything else you feel you might need
5. Make sure the Data type selected is PS1 or PS2
6. Press Start to begin
