This is a thread I had with ScubaPete to help me with Roxio Easy Media Creator. I hope it helps you all.

Pete,
I am having problems with Roxio and wondered if in your learned opinion you might have some insight. So I installed Easy CD Creator 5 and got the usual messages it is incompatible with XP. SO I ventured ahead and it works fine.
Now I decide to upgrade and get EMC 7.5, install it and it doesn't work at all to record CDs. The software hangs, won't launch the drive tools and after exiting won't even relaunch the Classic program.
WTF is going on? I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software and upgraded from V7.0 with no success. needless to say Roxio's TS is worse than lame....it is nonexistent.
Any suggestions?
Grazie

I would say you have found the truth all on your own. There are a few pple who do use Roxio but the vast majority don't as it mucks up Nero like you wouldn't believe. Not to worry, I had it also and paid for an upgrade only to have to remove it from my PC.
Here ya go, to uninstall it so that it won't come back to haunt you -
As the story goes, on every playground we'll find one or two kids who don't play well with others. All they do is create problems so that no one has fun and nothing ever gets done. Roxio is one such kid. One of the kids he messes with the most is that Nero boy over there ?
Lucky for us the Nero kid can do everything that Roxio can do, can do it better and a lot more to boot so, banning Roxio from recess isn't much of a loss at all.
Banning Roxio isn't all that simple, he's into everything BUT, lucky for us, we have a "Roxio Zapper" to simplify our task.
Uninstall Roxio using it's own uninstall proggy OR use the "Add and Remove" Program in your Control Panel. When you're finished with that, run this little "Puppy" to finish the job ?
To remove all types of Roxio tentacles and tendrils attack it with the Roxio Zapper ?
Once you've done that, reboot your PC to "flush" everything out of your PC's system :)
Cheers,
Pete
Hey Pete,
I ran the Zaper 6.0 and got an error msg. Would it be a problem if I simply deleted the Roxio files from the Registry?
No,
Here's some help ~
Go into your registry C:\Windows\Regedit.exe and do a search "Ctrl and F" for the program you're trying to eradicate.
Example: Roxio, Nero, etc. Anything that has the name of the program you're uninstalling, delete it ? It's as simple as that, . . .
Here is a promised "easy way", though I still would like to council you to use the manual method to cleanse Nero and/or Roxio from your system. Using a program such RegClean is better than nothing BUT, those two programs, more than any others I can think of at the moment, are notorious for leaving interwoven tentacles and tendrils throughout your PC's registry. RegClean is a free program that will get rid of many unattached registry files but certainly not all of them.
Now that we're finished, if you've followed all the steps, we should be done with this project and ready for the next -
I know it was a "Pain" but, when it's done correctly the first time, and all the steps are followed, we shouldn't have any problems AND we won't have to do it all over again. "Eeeech !"
NOW, after looking at your questions and my answers - wouldn't this have made a great thread - many pple could have been helped BUT now, if someone asks again about Roxio (and they will) I'll have to do this all over again -
You might not care about others but it could effect them . .
