To anyone that can help me out with this. Im trying to burn a Mpeg video from my hard drive to a DVD-R disc. I believe i need to use TmpegEnc to do this but what seetings does this need to be in so i can put it to disc? PLease, some one direct me in the right direction.
I've been using TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 for a few years now. Usually I can get by with freewares for what I like to do because most will use TMPGEnc Plus to convert to mpeg2(SVCD and DVD.) Anyway, to answer your question, if you want your DVD-R disc to be formatted as a DVD movie(instead of just a data disc with the mpg file on it) then a very easy way is to use DVDAuthorGUI to author the dvd. Bring up TMPGEnc Plus and select from the DVD section to match the format of the mpg(NTSC or PAL) and if it is 16x9 or not. Then on the right there's a drop down list for audio type. Select CBR MPEG-1 Layer II Audio (MP2). This will give you single pass audio processing for speed. (For greater detail how to use TMPGEnc Plus see online guides.)
Once you convert to DVD using TMPGEnc Plus then you can use a freeware to author the DVD. I find DVDAuthorGUI easy to use. See the guide for using it here:

Note that it tells you to load separate m2v and mp2 files but you can
use the file type dropdown in DVDAuthorGUI to load an mpg file instead. It's very easy to insert chapter points with DVDAuthorGUI.
I usually don't bother with menus but those can be added too if you're ambitious. :)
When you're done you should have a .iso DVD image file that you can burn with Nero or another burning sw.
(btw I also like to use DivxToDVD for quick and dirty conversions to watch on my DVD player. The above is just another method that gives you a more control over the bitrate, aspect ratio and chapter points.)
