I have my C drive which has all my programs and then my F drive which is a seperate hard drive with all my music files on it. When I use Nero (or any other burning software for that matter) it takes over 1 minute just to add one audio track when I make a CD. I believe it is because I keep my music on a seperate hard drive. What I want to know is how can I speed this up, it takes me over a half hour just to add 18 tracks to a CD that I am making, it is soooooo annoying. Any help will be greatly appreciated because I would like to burn some CD's but it takes about 45 minutes to do one. THANK YOU

When you say F: is a separate HD is it an external drive? Like a USB drive? If the interface to the drive is slow you're probably better off
to copy the files to a temporary folder on C: first. Then do your Nero burn.

No they are both internal hard drives, so are you still saying i would have to copy all the songs i want on the cd to the C drive and then add them to Nero?

These are two distict physical hard drives or just two partitions on the same physical drive? You're not really posting much in the way of information so I guess it's not critical to resolve the issue.

It appears to me that mlvc6969 has 2 seperate HD's in 1 computer. It also appears to me that MilesAhed doesn't really want to answer your question. Why would you make this comment?

Notice the use of plural words like "both" & "Hard drives". So, please don't chastise someone when they are trying to give you information & it isn't quite enough to fit your needs. I for one would like to hear an answer to this problem. I was thinking about getting another Internal HD for my music & Video files. I don't want the same problems that mlvc6969 is having. So if anybody has some USEFUL information I would appreciate it as I know mlvc6969 would.

First I won't even comment on MilesAhed because I don't have time for their games, if you wanted some more info then just ask, and I DID POST that i had 2 seperate hard drives in my first post and they are both internal, maybe you should learn to read before commenting. I wish someone other than a Newbie would help me because it is obvious that MilesAhed is here to belittle me and nothing else. So any help from someone else will be greatly appreciated

Just a couple of ideas:

1. Check your IDE cable is secured tightly into both HDD's and your motherboard. A faulty IDE cable could also cause problems.

2. How fast is your processor? Bear in mind that when you add music to a CD in Nero, it also has to convert the files to CD audio, not just burn them to the CD. That takes a lot of processor power, and so is quite dependent on its speed. For instance, just by overclocking my 2.4GHz to 2.6GHz, the audio conversions are significantly quicker.

Spec:
P4 2.4GHz
WinXP SP2
768mb SDRAM
Sony CRX-320E CD-R/RW
