Hello. This is my first time in a long time getting back into backing up games. My ps2 was modded since year 2000 or 2001. Will the same modchip still work on todays games?

Most likely yes,
Unless its a Neo key or something like that,
(that was originally made to boot cd's).

The games havent changed just older games were cd-format
(blue bottom) and now they are all dvd (silver bottom).
