I followed the instructions for making a loader disc for the mem card exploit but don't have anything else but a ps1 disc and the disc i burned... also have a mem card but now what?
can anyone point me in the right direction, either with a clearly written tutorial that explains what to do after you have created your disc? i tried doing the slide card thing but don't like it...
is there any reason that i can't just take the lid off my ps2 and off the drive to do the swap? am i missing anything else besides the disc?
if i download a copy of swapmagic 3 off the net how can i make that work?
update: downloaded a copy off mirc and now don't know what to do with it... that is to say that it comes in a ISO format...
do i burn it on a cdr w/nero?
please, any help would be appreciated... thanks in advance!
now that you have your cd burnt, you need something like swapmagic cd to boot it,forget taking lids off wont work you need a boot disc to get it to read the disc, ideally can you borrow one just to get it to work.secondly forget any downloads of any swapmagic disc they dont work even if you burn the image still no good swapdiscs are pressed a normal burnt cd is no good.
sorry this isnt what you wanted to hear but its the truth.
not a problem about not wanting to hear... :D
i'd rather know how to do it and do it right the first time instead of wasting my time.
i will look into getting the disc since no one of my friends has a disc like that.
so then once i get the swapmagic cd, then i just run that and wait for it to prompt me to put in my loader disc? or just use swapmagic period and then put in my backup?
you load the swapmagic disc as a normal game, you will then get a message saying insert disc fliplid change for your burnt cd and it installs it on memory card.
its good if you have bought the swapmagic discs but dont want to scratch them i use this method and keep discs incase.
awesome! so once it installs on the memory card, does that mean that the memory card from that point on is what will b used to play backed up games? i don't have a flip top but i plan on getting one... unless i get a modchip? would it be better to get a modchip since it would be a one time install... and does a modchip do the same thing?
yes once its on memorycard thats it.
i have had experiance with both swapmagic and modchip if you just want to put in back up and play i would definatly go for a modchip,i still use swapmagic beacuse you learn a lot more about rebuilding and patching games with swapmagic but it can be a headache.
good luck.
I got my swapmagic (with a slim-tool)from
http://www.swapmagicuk.net and I love it!!
I cant think of any reason why anyone would even take the risk of getting a modchip installed and ruining their warranty! unless of course there is something else people can do with a ps2 other than play games?

thanks witton!
my interest is mainly in playing my backups... although now that i think about it, it seems kind of cool to learn the other methods also... :)
any leads to where i can get a good modchip for a reasonable price?
thanks again!
