Fifa Soccer 2005 is protected by SafeDisc 3.20.022 so your best bet will be either Alcohol 120% or BlindWrite 4.57. Regular burning software such as Roxio or Nero don't have what it takes to back up PC protections.

You're also going to need an EFM capable burner. What make/model burner are you using?

neph im trying to backup the same protection, different game. My burners are in my sig but dont think any are EFM. Whats a burner youd recommend (plextor are rare as where im from) and why does blindwrite 4.7 work better than 5

The absolute best drive for backing up PC protections is the Plextor Premium CD/RW so if at all possible try to pick one up. SecuROM has always been a real booger to back up but the Premium has a special write method for SecuROM that BlindWrite can use and it works like magic.

Next down the line would be the Lite On 52327s or the Asus5232AS. Both are good drives and EFM capable but they lack the special write method the Premium has.

In all fairness I should try the latest version of BlindWrite against SafeDisc 3.20.022. At the time 3.20.022 came out BW5 choked on it but there have been several updates to BW5 since then. I think I still have an image of Doom 3 on my hard drive so I'll give BW 5.2.12.146 a shot and see if anythings changed :)

Make that BW 5.2.16.154 - I just updated :)

I just started reading the image with my Lite On 167T at 4X and the image will be written by Plex Premium at 4X with no autoplay info.

EFM capable DVD burners are a precious few. The Plextor PX-708A/712A and the Lite On 4xx/8xx series were all EFM capable but the only one still available new is the PX-712A. I'm not aware of any recent models that are EFM capable.

It is a bummer. There used to be quite a few viable burners for backing up games but once SafeDisc 3.20.022 and SecuROM 5.03 hit the scene that number was cut to about three models that could reliably back them up.

Every time you see a little punk post here about getting a downloaded game to work be sure to pop in and say thanks for creating the situation that makes it nearly impossible for us to back up our purchased games :)

Oh, and BW 5.2.16.154 was a no-go for SafeDisc 3.20.022 :(
