okay... it all started when i bought an Xenium Ice Solderless modchip and i found out that my xbox was v1.6 and the solderless wouldnt work for that version. So, i went to a local gamestop, bought a used xbox, switched Motherboards (switched my 1.6 for their v1.2) then sent it back the next day (got full money back). i forgot to test it out, because i thought it would work fine. a day or two later, my modchip came. I spent hours trying to line the things up and getting the D0 wire in the right spot n all that stuff until someone finally told me it was easier to just solder it in, so i did (i got the D0 wire in the right spot too). Then, i booted up my Xbox and the chip lit up this bright white color and my xbox 'status led' was flashing red and green (FRAG).... then it took me to some wierd thing that said 16 in the top left corner... i later found out that this is the Code 16 error...i didnt know what to do, so just let my xbox rot in one of my backpacks in the corner of my room, so i could catch up on all my school work n etc... i just pulled it out today,(about eh... three months later?) after trying to find things to do and tried to swap hard drives (which, by the way, didnt work =[)... AND my damn modchip lights up RED when i turned it on.... im totally stuck.. dunno what to do... ANY HELP will be EXTREMELY AWESOME... I REEEAAALLLLY NEED HELP.... Thanks a lot for your support, in advanced....
Paul

Code 16 error is related to dashboard error. Turn on your Xbox by pressing the EJECT button and see if it will take you to the Xenium OS. It it does, then you'll need to flash the BIOS and install a new dashboard such as Evox. Do some research on this or read the stickies on here regarding flashing BIOS and installing dashboard.

okay, first time, i pressed the eject button, everything went good, then it FRAG again and sent me to the error page again (((IT WASNT A CODE 16, SORRY ABOUT THAT, IT WAS A CODE 06))). so, i turned it off (fan was still going so i unplugged it from the back). this time, i held down the eject button and the mod chip lit up that nice whitish color and my xbox booted three times, on the third time it kept running but there was no image on the screen... and it started FRAGging... bleh.. im screwed :'(

you are having a hd error...each hd is matched to the motherboard it came with...in order for you to get the hd from your 1.6 to work with the 1.2 motherboard you need to unlock the hd...not sure if you will be able to unlock it unless you have the matching motherboard to go with it...i could be wrong though...your best bet would be to just buy a new unlocked stock xbox hd...you can pick these up on ebay for under $20...or you can just go to a local store and get yourself a large hd(which i would imagine you were planning on doing anyway)

you have to have your chip installed and flashed...then just throw in the hd and format it and install a dashboard...slayer's can format and install everything for you...basically it is plug and play, just format and install dash and you are set.
can you boot to the xenium os? or do always get a frag?

No stick your new HDD in your Xbox and use Slayer's to format it, Slayer's can also install apps and dash for you, some are useless though.

It's most likely you were using incompatible media, try different brands out and you'll run into one brand that works. If your Xbox has a Thomson DVD drive then it will take more tries. I used to have a Thomson and I used FUJI DVD-RW, worked about 75% of the time. Use DVD-RW disc, it will save you from wasting bad burns cuz you can always reuse DVD-RW.

yeh i got that really crappy 'TGM600'... i used to have a samsung...but that was the second reason why i got the used xbox, to switch my broken samsung (tray wouldnt open and broken pieces would rattle inside) and to switch to a lower mobo... i've tried three different types of media now (DVD+r Memorex, Cd-r HP, and this CompUSA brand Cd-r) and so far none of them work.. i dont think i have anymore types of media, you knwo what type would work best for TGM600?... thanks a lot for your help...

are you sure you can boot to the xenium os? it sounds as if you may need to check your install of the chip...if it is installed correctly it should boot the xenium os...i would recommend getting the xenium os to boot before you waste your time trying to flash a bios.

Check your Xenium chips connection to your Xbox.
Ensure all gold wires are in the centre of the
through holes
Make sure the Power Supply is safely covered
with the HDD housing. Temporaraly power on the
box and check to see that all five LED?s illuminate.
In case an LED does not illuminate, gently push
corresponding tip of problem wire in order to seat
it properly in the through hole
(HINT: If the wire is sitting outside through hole
by pushing the tip you should hear a click.)
Repeat power test to ensure all five LED?s
illuminate
Before proceeding ensure the box is powered
down and power cable removed
If every wires are making good contacts, your chip should look like the
picture above.
Plug in the Xenium power up and have fun :-)
Note: When the Xenium is active the LED
indicated by the red arrow should be off
Your Xenium Ice should look like this:

also, my xbox version is v1.0, not v1.2 >.< sorry been a while since i made sure... yeh, i found out something wierd just 5 minutes ago and it's that whenever i put the D0 wire into the hole thing, i get the boot three times (now audio or sound), then FRAG. But, when i dont have the D0 wire in, i get the normal start up (flubber animation) then it stops at the screen that shows the big X and says Xbox (the letters "Micro$oft" don't show up because it automatically directs me to the 06 code error screen... yeh..
