I found out that my dvd writer doesn't work with dvd-r media. I have researched and philips say that updates will never be created for some issues.
I already bought swap magic though. (it only works with dvd-r or cd-r media) Is there anyway I can get a different writer on my computer? I need to be able to burn dvd-r disks. Please help me.

get a nec 3520a or as old as liteon 411s

you know what go to best buy or someplace that sells and installs burners just tell them you want one that burns dvd-r

A:You can use either DVD+ or DVD- disc for your backup
its not swap magic that doesnt like dvd+r, its old ps2's. What version is yours??
And +r can be booktyped to DVD-Rom to improve compatability

what youmean booktyped to dvd-rom and how do you do that. and you think that might give my v4 a chance at reading it, cuz i have some dvd+r media jus lying around waiting to be used.

if you already have the media, and the burner, then try one, but use a game that doesnt need patching or anything to boot with swap magic (so you know its not the patch that is stopping it)
Booksetting can be done in DVD Decrypter by clicking the book next to write speed (but it is only for selected drives)
It can also be done in nero

Well you could get the pioneer 108 off pricewatch for about 60$ i believe. I havent checked lately, but thats the price i paid for it a couple months back. Also, I guess I am weird, because I have like a v4 ps2, and yet it doesnt like -r media, so I only use +r
