Toxic Patcher and Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance

These worked in this order:
Gran Turismo 4
Xenosaga
God Of War
Champions Of Norrath

I tried a 5th game and burned it twice, MGS2: Substance and this game didn't work. It got a successful burn but the burn looked weird. The way it looked was from the inside to about 1/6 of the disc it was blank light in color as if some of layer 0 wasn't burned aka the first layer and from that point to half way of the disc it was dark as if it burned the rest of the first layer. The process I used was I ripped the game with DVD Decrypter then patched the MDS file which successed like the other 4. Last I burned it with Nero 6 Ultra Edition which I did with the other discs which came out fine at 2.4X which is the slowest speed and used the same speed for MGS2: Substance. I have an I/O Magic 16X DL Burner with Verbatim DVD+R DL discs which I burned the other 4 games with. Why is MGS2: Substance not burning right?

Any suggestions do you think it is Nero, I was contemplating on using DVD Decrypter next time to burn do you think this will work?

I have Nero 6.6.0.8, the ISO file is 5.99 GB which is right for the MGS2: Substance.

Should I patch the ISO instead of the MDS?

MGS2:Substance has in the MODULES folder five ioprp###.img files:

IOPRP250.IMG
IOPRP252.IMG
IOPRP253.IMG
IOPRP254.IMG
IOPRP255.IMG

and in the SKATE folder there is one

IOPRP255.IMG

when the Patcher runs it patchs IOPRP250.IMG

Has anybody successfully burned and been able to boot this game up on their PS2?
