I recently recieved Swap Magic 3.6 w fliptop for my PS2. I tried backing up San Andreas, Spiderman 2, and Star Wars battlefront using Nero. None of them would boot except Spider Man 2, but the picture and souns skips. Then I got the newest version of DVD Decrypter and tried San Andreas again. The first time it booted it froze after I died then the second time it froze while it was loading. I'm burning at slowest possible speed(2.4x) Memorex DVD+R(movie backups and original games still work perfect) was wondering if anyone had any suggestions using-R or different media??? I don't want to make anymore coasters. Please help. thank you

Memorex is very iffy media, I'd recommend avoiding it altogether. They might work fine for movies, but PS2s and PS2 games are way more picky about this type of stuff. Also, I'd try some slower speed rated discs, I wouldn't burn any faster than 2x and 1x is ideal. Maybe try some -R discs, your PS2 might like that a little better. I use Ritek G04, 4x rated but can burn at 1x. They work great for me.

[edit] Also just so you know, there's a PS2 forum dedicated to questions like this.

contrary to poular belief i have no problem with memorex. never been too bad for me. since i stumbled upon this site i only use taiyo yuden though-spose to be the "KING"-and theyre actually cheaper than memorex in stores. order them online at supermediastore or rima(both trusted sites)

Hummhhh... I think this should be in the PS2 forum???

No "Memorex" for me here, I've used "Fuji/Maxell/Sony/TDK" DVD-R 8X to back up PS2 games and they're all seems to work fine with my version 9 PS2 without any freezing or glitch at all. Seriously, I can't tell the difference while playing and the quality pictures all seems like the original game to me. Like others have mentioned above, trash the Memorex, get some quality blank media and try it out and see if that will solve the results. I backed up all my PS2 games with "Nero 6 Ultra Edition", click on "Copy DVD" and backed up at Max Speed without any issue at all. What version is your PS2? Perhaps, your PS2 don't like that kind of media i.e. Memorex DVD+R if it's an older version. I know that the newer PS2 are more compatible with both -R and +R media, and I've heard that some older PS2 version don't like the +R/+RW at all. May be you ought to change the "booktype" into DVD-ROM when backing up with any DVD+R media, by doing this, it will make it easier for the PS2 to read/load. Hope this help you a little.

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

#1 memorex are hit and miss with ps2's,

#2 if the ps2 is version 3 or below,it will only take dvd-r,some v4's use both dvd-r/dvd+r,v5 and above use all.

#3 san andreas reads constantly off the disc,so if you can use dvd+r(but better quality,),stick to dvd+r

#4 spiderman should work fine......but your media is crap

#5 read through this for starwars battlefront

Playstation forum or media forum, which should it be? ;) My friend, BigO, has a PS2 with a mod chip. He burns at 1X with Decrypter and claims excellent success.

sorry about the wrong forum. this was my first post. I'll try Ritek04 or Yuden. My movie backups play on +R, but maybe I'll try -R for games. All you guys are the best and I truly appreciate the help.
