If I have a backed up copy of a DVD-R can I burn directly from my DVD drive to DVD-R and skip transfering everything to the HD? Is there anyway to do it with originals also?

I'd only do this if your reader and writer are on seperate IDE channels. Otherwise you'll have data flowing both directions on the same cable and you have a higher probability for errors.

Not that I found and if there was I wouldn't do it, unless the original disc is a DVD5 (single layer). In that case, read previous section of post.

I was just trying to see if I could skip a step. Transfering 4 gigs is not fast, so I'll walk away and forget to start step 2 for a while.

I have used Nero to do what you are asking (copying a back up) and it worked fine for me. Good luck.

yeah, if u are tryin to make a backup of a backup then Nero will do the trick. just cliick on "copy disk". however, it wont work for originals, cause u need to ripem first. thats where DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink comes in.
