Hate to sound ignorant but the more I read the more confused I get.
Miglia, Clarifier, Stabilizer, Enhancer, geez its a lot to take in.

Seems like there must be a device that simply plugs in between the machines to filter out all the various copyguards so someone can simply copy there old vhs movies onto there new dvd recorder as they watch.
Or
Is this just to simple an idea for the digital age.

Many devices do some, or all, of those things. They just don't necessarily specify that on the box.
That said, there's ALWAYS one tape that just won't work, for whatever reason, no matter the device.
Get a Canopus ADVC-110 and start capping :)

So the Canopus will simply plug into the rca's from the vcr and then to the dvd recorder ?
There flow wiring pic shows computers interfaced in the process.

Yeah, sorry, I missed the part about the recorder you're using.
You can get patch cables, that will accept the VCR outputs, and go to the recorder's inputs, via the Canopus, but they don't come in the package.
I know this method has worked for some.

If you are Trying to capture from a VCR to a Standalone DVD recorder then all you need is Video stabilizer of Some Sort which would be a Lot Cheaper than Useing an ADVC-100 which is Primarilly used for Captureing to your PC and probably won"t work that well just useing it as a macrovision Remover....

All you need is something like this:

transfering vhs tapes to dvd can get very complicated if you don't start with the right hardware and software.i started with a hollywood bridge capture card, switched to a v-stream capture card and used cyberilnk power producer,powerdirector,u-lead and several other programs with some sucess but with all of these programs i had dropped frames, poor sync.of voice and action and the jitters.i took a friend advise and upgraded my computer to a p-4 2.40 mhz,80 gig hard drive, win xp and a hp dc5ooo movie writer with a built in capture carp.to date i have transfered about 19 tapes to bvd.this set up also required a clarifire to kill the copyright protection.keep in mind that if the vhs tape is bad you will get a bad dvd, these programs record what they see from the vcr in real time.note-to bate i got 16 good quality dvds with four failures only because the vhs tapre were not good to begin with.
