you could:
-read the case, or disc, and look for a cd-based game icon.
-look at the bottom of the disc itself and see if it is purple-backed.
-put it in your computer and see how big the disc is. (i.e. under 700mb)
These are a few ways to check.

If the PS2 ISO file is under at least 700MB i think it can fit on a CD-r

Yes,it can. You can also use DVD Decrypter to figure out the MB/GB on the CD/DVD.

hmm, like someone already said look on the Disc if its says PSONE than hmmm.. PS2 hmmmm, COMPACT DISC that means CD and DVD-ROM means DVD...

Not saying anyone is stupid, but thats common sense. Think about it you wouldnt park your car in your living room.......
