In my old xbox, i had a spiderchip with hd combo i had bought. I used it and stored like 25 games, then when i fried my mobo. I tried to put the chip and hd into a another xbox. I even made a working copy of evo-x. Anyway when i boot the hd in the new xbox w. the chip i get the error code of 6, i looked it up on xbox scene. and it says my kernel cannot unlock the drive. So i put the Microsoft default Harddisc back in the xbox. My evox cd still boots but, then i only have the choice to boot the MS dash, So by original, i meant the hd that came w. the xbox.

If i boot evo-x disc with my old. modded hd,i get the error6 code. I dont even get to my evox screen.

does an eeprom have anything to do w. it. can i reset it. If I could get my evox to work, then i could ftp into the hd and unlock it.

weird...did you install the chip correctly in the new XboX?
What BIOS do you have in it?

I installed it correctly. When the xbox boots i see the executer logo under the BIG X. if i have my evox cd in the tray it boots with all my original menus, i can even play my games that i have backed up on disk. But i can only do this if the xbox's original hard disc is in. However, if i put the hd that came with my chip into the new xbox, then i get the error six code. And i dont get my evox screen.

So i am in real need of help. if i were to download a different dash, would that allow me to bypass the locked hd?

Is there a better dash than evox? would having one help me out?

ok then there's something going on with your hd. so you have games backed up on your retail HD? what about your upgraded HD- I think there's a good chance you locked it to your old xbox's EEPROM.

Hey jason, before you took out the hard drive did you unlock it so that it can work on other mobo's. If not maybe thats your problem. you didnt specify what versions you had.

I am moving it from one vers.1 xbox to another ver.1 xbox. The only difference is that the other ver.1 xbox has a fan over the agp processor. or I think its an agp processor.

I cant remember whether or not i unlocked it, perhaps i will try to see if i can use the old xbox to unlock it.

if one has a fan and the other doesnt then one is a 1.1 and the other is a 1.0. you have to unlock the drive.

Oh ok. thanks. I went to the xbox scene page and it identified as 1.0 i guessed they did it judged on the conextant video chip. THanks for the info. Unforturnately my 1.0 box is fried, which is why i had to move the chip in the first place. Is there anyway to hook up the xbox hd to my computer so that i can atleast recover my games. At this point. i can only assume my only option is to get a new HD format it, and reinstall all my games and apps...thanks for all your advice though

no what i would do is once you chip the next box put the hd to it and see if it reads it. I recently put my other hd in another box to seel it and it worked just fine. boot up with slayers for the first time and unlock the hd just to make sure it works.

OK. I put in an old 60gig hd i had lying around. I installed the slayers auto installer 2.6. I was excitet cos it worked! But when i rebooted the xbox, my mediacenter did not show up. ITs in red lettering and i cannot select it. SO i tried to ftp one to the hd and its still not showing up...Worse though is that when i go to my PX hdd loader, where i used to install my games for back up. I get a message saying my modchip doesnt support the eject tray trick. It worked w. the other xbox. ANy ideas on how to fix these things?

If you put slayers in it should have everything you need. You just have to put the media center in ther right place. Fix the .ini files in your dash.

i fixed the media center, but my Pxhdd loader says my modchip doesnt support the hdeject trick, But it did in the old xbox. It also says that the disc should be in the tray and it closed before i boot, but if i do that then the game autoloads before my dash loads...what to do?

on the evox cd, it has the option to flash the chip///is that advisible?

In the case of getting your old hard drive that came with your spider chip you would need to physically remove the eeprom chip from the broken mobo and use it to replace the one on your current working mobo. This will allow your xbox to unlock the drive and if need be you could lock it or unlock it, you could also use your current h/d as long as it is unlocked when you transfer over the EEPROM chip off of the broken mobo

Ok this is very simple. Your hard drive is n ow locked.
What you do is take the hard drive out, reformat it,
re install evox.
