Hi Folks,
I am having a problem using the swap magic DVD to boot DVD-R backups.
The playstation 2 boots the Original Swap Magic DVD 2.0 and 3.3 and it goes to the swap screen.
At this moment I swap for the DVD-R backup and some times it goes like going to boot, comes up some intro but never get to the game screen. Some times the screen gets just black with no answer at all.
When I use the Swap Magic CD, I boot the games and they play just fine.
Am I having problem with the laser lens or what?
As you can see is just the DVD reader... on the PS2's CD/DVD-Rom.
Shall I have to change the laser lens or can I just adjust something like the voltage, I will try clean the laser lens this week any way to see it helps.
Any help will be very apreciatted.
I am using my old PS2 30001R version using swap magic 2.0 and 3.3.
thank you very much for your attention.
Hi Friend,
I am using Ridata G05 (I think is -R), burned at 2x, using DVD Decrypter.
But the disks (DVD-R) are fine, because they run on other console with swap magic as well.
Thanks for help.
Well,
I have tested on a v12 slim line and other PS2 (v7 I think) newer than this one with the problem to boot DVD Games (v5/v6).
I think there is some problem on the laser lens, because is something strange play CD-Rs and do not play DVD-R, I ve seem here some help to clean the laser lens and even adjust it, I will try to see if helps, I hope I do not need to buy a new laser for it.
Any more help will be very nice,
thank you again.
Hi Folks,
Somebody told me about this problems with the DVD-R disks, I use Ridata G05, is DVD-R disk, burned at 2X and worked fine on other ps2 v5/v6.
Today I opened the ps2 (the warranty has ened anyway) and I try clean the laser lens and adjust the voltage. After this I try again the same disks and worked with the Ridata, I had some older games here brand Sony and Prodisc DVD-R and they did not work.
Well I will make some new tests with ridata again to see, but seens to work fine now.
thanks for you help I hope this thread helps other people who had or having the same problems.
