hello, ive burnt a few backups successfully with maxell dvd-r(MXL RG03) before but now i cant get my recent backups to load with taiyo yuden(TYG02) and maxell dvd-r(RITEK G05). I got the yuden because i heard they were the best but i cant get ace combat 5 and area 51 to load. Im using a matrix mx4 modchip and i havent had any problems b4. I burnt like 10 coasters with this new batch of yuden and maxell together and nothing is working. All the backups keep going back to browser screen and then they show up as Dvd-video, however one time with the yuden ace combat 5 loaded. But it took like 5 mins for the game to even load after the black screen. I even burnt with Nero and decrypter to see if anything would change. Same results with both. I dont understand as I thought the maxell would have at least worked since theyre the same brand as b4. Any help?

well im not sure thats the problem. I forgot to mention that i burnt a copy of Midnight club 3(which i already burnt with the old maxells MXLRG03 and that works perfectly). But it didnt work with the taiyo yuden or new maxells(RITEKG05) discs so im assuming it has something to do with the discs.
hmmm yeah Im having a few problems with the taiyo yuden too. I just got these dvds and backed up grandia xtreme and arc the lad so far. The grandia xtreme, I did a scan with Nero cdspeed and it scanned that a few spots was unreadable and arc the lad would sometimes freeze during gameplay. Also for this 2 games, I puted my DVD Decrypter at 1x read and 1x write, could that be the problem? because I've been puting my dvd decrpyter read speed at max and write speed at 1x for the other games.
A few questions:
What speed are you burning at? (i usually do 4X)
What type of discs (speed 4x,8x)(i use Phillips 8X or TDK 4X -R)
Have you tried rebuilding using ISO Buster and Nero? (see link below)

Yea all my previous games still work fine. I burn at 1x and taiyo yuden dvd-r 4x and maxell dvd-r 8x. I did not rebuild them because i didnt think they needed rebuilding. However, i just rebuilt nba street 3 and that did not work also. What i really dont understand is how come the new maxells (-r) are not working when they worked before. I know its prolly because the old ones' id was MXL RG03 and the new ones are listed as RITEK G05, but I still think they should work. I started out using maxell +r but my god of war and def jam ffny copies were skipping and lagging and then i switched to the maxell -r and both games are flawless now. Also, I burnt midnight club 3 with the new batch of maxell and it didnt work while with the old ones it does. So im assuming it must be the discs somehow and the ps2 isnt reading them right. They show up as dvd video sometime on the browser and then ps2 disc sometimes but when i click on it it only goes back to browser.
I would just go out and get some good discs. If the ID's keep changing you may want to get a different brand like TDK 4X DVD-R or Phillips 8X DVD-R
they always work for me ( i have never checked the disc ID on them but have been through many batches of the Phillips, about 50-75 of them and they work every time).
Plus you can most likely still use the maxell discs for movies, they don't seem to be quite as picky as games are when it comes to burning them. I haven't had too many discs problems with movies.
