ok i tried burning the back-up with nero, alcohol, dvddecrypter at 3 different burn speeds with a samsung, sony and a old pioneer 106 at 1x-2x-4x
all i got was not a valid ps2 disc
then i tried the same thing with the patch aplied and got not a valid ps2 disc
then i rebuilt the game with nero then burnt it at 1x the game plays till i get into the barbarian fort to rescue the roman soldier out the pen he's locked in at the beggining of the game, the cutscene loads were the soldier falls on the floor and says sorry and then it freezes
i thought hmm prolly a bad burn so i tried it with another burn at 2x and the same freeze happens
i'm using the flip top and swap magic 3.6 and i've ran outta ideas and running out of discs to back this up

For Mercenaries there is a patch you can use by DVDRick on PS2NFO.com
Bad part is if you are not a member, and sign up they will make you wait 5 days until you can download anything off their site. If you search, there are many, many, many posts here on how to burn both of those games.
For Mercenaries i have posted both a link to the patch and burning instruction here: http://minnwild.8.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=157

i really does hope this helps you guys...

at first, i've tried everything from rebuilding the iso, and changing the dummy file to 1kb...but to no avail, i always ended up with 'not a valid ps2 game' on my swapmagic 3.6; However, i tried to patch the game, and to my amazement..it worked!

this is how you do it.

1. Use DVD Decrypter to create an iso image.
2. Use the patch for shadow of rome. You can find it at www.ps2nfo.com
(to apply the patch, you use a program called ppf-o-matic 3.0)
3. Use DVD Decrypter to burn the image after the patch is installed

walaa...you have successfully made a back up copy of shadow of rome

would it be a good idea to just replace the dummy and burn as it is? or do you have to rebuild the image aswell? also can anyone give me a link to the patch for shadow of rome i need the PAL version please.
