Every time I try to copy a CD, My computer reboots before any copying begins. I use Nero 5.5 or NTI, & have XP on a 80 gig HD & 1.7 processor.

Any help appreciated...

You could have a few different problems.

Try upgrading your Nero v5.5 to a newer version. v6.XX or better.

I seem to remember problems with v5.5 on XP.

Also, are you using the copy cd function (read from a drive and write to another drive at the same time?)

If so, your read speed should be at least twice as fast as your write speed so your buffers don't empty.

You might possibly have an OS problem

Post back with any other info you might have

Thanks !

I use Nero 5.5 because Nero 6 doesnt have a multi-session disc maker that I know of. (Strangely, my multi-session recently greyed itself out, while it didn't on my other computer.)

Also, My NTI CD/DVD maker gold is for XP, yet IT RE-BOOTS too when I hit copy now.

"are you using the copy cd function (read from a drive and write to another drive at the same time?" -Yes, & Ive tried all kinds of ways to avoid that, but may have missed some effective ones.

Any more ideas appreciated...

Did you try uninstalling all of you burning software, then re-installing it?

If you're going to try this go to Nero's site and use the Clean Tool before you install it again. You can get it here:

www.nero.com/en/General Clean Tool

Sounds like your one machine is suffering some ailments, Re-formatting and installing a fresh OS would be the cure more than likely.
