Background: I have a ripped DVD from a friend that won't work in my DVD player so i thought i'd try a re-burn as this has worked for me in the past. When i try to copy or re-code using Nero, it gives me the "Invalid DVD navigation stucture" message. I have hunted the forums and net and tried using the DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter methods discussed in various forums.

That's where my real problem starts.

When Decrypting, i get the message "On-the-fly IFO/BUP file patching failed" on all of the IFO and BUP files, with the reason given: "Invalid IFO/BUP file."

I'm not sure where to go next and i have searched hi and low for and answer but there are few references if any to problems with BUP files.

Any help or direction greatly appreciated.

Thanks

So are you trying to copy from your copy that doesn't work for you? Or are you trying to rip the original disc again?

If you are trying from the original disc, make sure you have the latest version of Decrypter. It's 3.5.4. That should do it. If that doesn't work you can download a 21-day free trial of AnyDVD. It's a driver-based decrypter that rips off any encryption while running in the background, so it's not an extra step in your process. Awesome proggy.

If you are trying from your copy that you said won't work, try to explore the disc and copy and paste the files into a folder on your hard drive. Make sure these are the only files in your folder. Then there's a program called IFOEdit you can download (it's free) that will create correct IFO files and reorganize your files so you can work with them. I hope that helps.

I'm trying to copy from the disk that doesn't work, but the .VOB files do open in Media Player. Should i copy all the files including the IFO and BUP files or just the .VOB files?

I'd say just the VOB files. Then let IFOEdit get your IFO and BUP files. Do what the picture shows in this thread:

OK, so i've created the IFO files in IFOEdit and i thought i should now go to DVD Shrink and open the VIDEO_TS folder, but when i try this i get the "Overlapped I/O operation in progress. I don't get it? I've closed IFOEdit and even the folder in Explorer.

Any ideas on this one?

The only thing I can think of is in IFOEdit click Open, find your VIDEO_TS.IFO file and click Get VTS Sectors. This will correct any reallocation problems. Hopefully that works. If not, I don't know. I've seen that problem before and couldn't fix it. Good luck.

Thanks for your help Squizzle, unfortunately i just ended up with more error messages and i'm giving up. I ended up watching the movie by placing all the VOB files in a playlist and that worked out fine. Unfortunately i don't have the time or knowledge to persevere with this problem.

Thanks again.
