I have an idea.. How bout a live chat for Afterdawn?! This site has a large number of members, not sure how many are on at one time, but the moderators and people that have knowledge could help you instantly..

Having a live chat would ruin aD basically.
Live chat = nobody posting on forums, instead going straight to the chat
No Posting = No advertisers
No Advertisers = No Money
No Money = No aD.....
There is a chat where a few of the aD regulars hang out on IRC.
We have developed a Java Chat for people that dont use IRC.

Please Note, this is no way affliated or run by Afterdawn in anyway, shape or form.

ahh oh ok, Hmm, It was an idea b/c I've been to another game forum site that had everyone in the forums and it showed whether they were online are not, then it had a live Chat.. It was pretty cool. I love AD, so I figured throw that out there.

I would think it would be confusing as hell trying to keep up with who got what advice and who had what problem considering the number of members here.......

This has been discussed zillion times. Reasons:
-legal implications, live chat is virtually impossible to moderate
-income -- advertisers hate live chats, as they have extremely low click-through rates for banners and also due the legal risk/unmoderated
-forums have the ability to become searchable FAQ databases, whereas chats/IRC cant never achieve the same ease of use in terms of finding old topics/solutions. Additionally, such feature would certainly drive number of users away from forums and to use the chat feature in hope of instant reply to their question, thus devaluing the forums further and making it even more difficult to find old answers using search.
