Can it be done? Everything I tried gave read errors, unless I just have to click to ignore them or something

you can back it up but its pretty pointless because you will then need a swap magic disc to boot the swap magic dvd-r.

People stop asking? I've only been here 2 days. I'm not psychic enough to know it's already been asked. Plus a search of the forum brought nothing.

I may just go with a chip after all

it is easy enough to find the answer to this. but anyway why not just buy the swapmagic disc.

its a lot cheaper than a chip and a lot healthier for your ps2.

I did buy the disc, but what happens if/when it's damaged? Buy another one. I can get the console modded for $40 locally.

by the time your Swapmagic disk wears out.. there will be a few newer better ver of the disc and you'd want to upgrade it anyways.. as far as a mod chip who's how long those will last before they burn out and ruin your machine or before the co that makes the chip stops upgrading it's bios or firmware...

I don't know why people think Swap Magic is such a pain .. it's alot better than having your PS2 go out because of a chip malfunction or chip isn't upgradeable anymore

true.

the chip will either break its self, break your ps2 or refuse to boot the newest games long before swap magic wears out.

Also i seriously wouldn't trust a $40 modchip. Your most likely gonna end up with a neo2 or something ancient that is badly installed. Nobody who can professionaly soldier and install a modchip for you is going to do it for that price including the actual chip.

Id take a guess this person going to install for you is a friend down the road who said 'ive done it on my ps2 and it worked fine' or something similar.

I dont know the price in dollars but here in the uk to get a good chip installed such as a dms then for chip + install your looking at £70 - £80 minimum. Lower than that id start to ask myself why is it so cheap.
