I installed DVD Decrypt with the hope of copying a Video DVD. But then I learn that there is a 4.78 GB max. Then searched and found applications for sale that might work. I hate to spend money and they not work. 1.) Any brief suggestions?
So I thought I would try a smaller DVD, one that tested as 4.3 GB, but when I went to burn, there were two files, .ISO and .DMS? & I tried to burn them but got several errors.

All I want is to be able to burn a few DVDs and play them on my RCA or Samsung DVD player. 2.) Any step by step suggestions?
I don't mind spending $50 but hate to spend $99 and get more headaches. I have a Sony DVD player/recorder.

. . . and I saw the ad here for the CloneDVD so I tried a trial version if it. It acted funny too, but is still running. I have DVD+R and +RW for blanks.

The Sony Burner came with Nero and such. Sizes of files and the right blank DVD seem to be important. I'm not sure of the limitations. And I don't know about speed settings. I chose 48 once.

The only other program you need is DVD Shrink (free) Click on the blue proggy in blue to get to download page. Here are some guides.

. . . and CloneDVD says the burn failed w/o giving much reason. I tried a DVD+RW, but that made no difference. There is a shortage of good guides about burning DVDs. And little defining of terms. The display says the sizes are compatible but the burn still fails.

DVD Shrink? That's what they said about DVD Decrypt and Clone. What about size restrictions, and type of blank?
Well, I'll give it a try.
And report results.

Click on the third tab above "Guides" you will find step by step instructions with screenshots to guide you along.
(Also on bbmayo's excellent guides)

Nothing will replace the research you need to do, all the tools are cited here.

Good luck

Hey DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink are free so nobody can bitch about that. There is a large number of people here useing them without any problems and swear by em. We can't help those who aren't willing to help themselves. You never did report any info on the media you're useing. Poor quality media is #1 cause of problems with vidio reproduction. #2 is speed it is burned at.

And MS Win XP keeps opening a window each time a put a disk in saying it can do it all for me. The Shrink appears to work but I have not watched the whole movie.

Mort81 -

I am one of those people that swear by Decrypter & Shrink. After months of trial and error with multiple programs. I just wish I had found this website early.

I second your statement "We can't help those who aren't willing to help themselves."

And he still doesn't respond to the question.

We are Legion, for we are many.

Try backing up movie only, and dump unnecessary audio streams especially DTS audio. If it's still too big run it through shrink saving it to a hdd folder and then run it through again.
