Hi,

These two issues are probably related with each other.
A) When using AnyDVD in the background i lately getting more and more ripping errors from DvdShrink. Not caused by any of the programs but simply because i think there are new security-updates used by the manufacturers. The past week i tried them all (+/-18 rippers i mean and... still nothing)
B) I noticed also that DvdShrink din't get any updates for several months now. Does anyone know if they just quit or renamed their program???

I'm not a freaking newbie (680rips) & i hate divx/xvid especially when they call that a "dvd-rip"????

Thanks in advance,
G. :D

DVD Shrink has not been updated for sometime, the creator of the program now works for Nero. You will not see anymore updates. DVD Shrink will not handle the newer DVD's use DVD Decrypter. I have AnyDVD and have not been having a problem.

Thanks arniebear, you just confirmed what i knew...

About the proggy's:
i can only say that i tried them the last two weeks Nero Recode, DVD Decrypter, and several more to see a difference. As i said i also use AnyDVD to get rid of the sony RPC protection... (or what's it called again). Anyway, i manage a computerstore and i gave them a shot on different pc's thinking that my writer didn't work... also no change...

Thanks for your reply & cheers...
G.

Arnie Bear, according to your post, dvdshrink does not work with newer dvds. Can you give me the name of a dvd that it will not rip. I have yet to run across one, and I still use 2.3. I am not exactly a newbie at it.

I have backed up at least 5 of the DVDs on that list with no problems.

I use AnyDVD in background with Shrink. I have seen the boy running video, but it doesn't effect my burning.

I was going to make the same comment. I have backed up many of the movies on the list with no problem. Actually, I have yet to meet one I could not back up. Of course, saying that is bad kharma. The very next disc will probably be the one. The only reason I asked arniebear for the name of one he could not backup was so I could obtain the movie and try it. It was not my intention to disagree with any one.

The movie I had the problem with was Friday Night Lights, I could do this movie with AnyDVD running but Shrink on its own could not handle the movie.
