Hi all.

I've been trying for two weeks now to convert a dvd to divx, and my pc keeps freezing or at times it will just reboot.

I am using TMPGEnc 3.0 xpress, and with this my pc keeps rebooting. When I check the directory where I was converting to, the file is never bigger than 200mb and is unplayable.

I just recently tried using Auto Gordian and my pc just froze.

I know there are other app's out there that might work, but I have tried many in the past and feel that these two give best quality.

I know it is not due to my pc, b/c it worked perfectly before. I just recently re-did my system, and afterwards have not been able to get this done.

I did, however, notice that there was no aspi driver installed, but nero's was. So I installed the force aspi. Which is installed and is functioning properly, as to nero's info tool.

So please, if anyone has any expert advice, I could definitly use it.

I figured it out!

It was not the prog's or my PC, it was just simply the movie.

It was "THE LAST SHOT", Cast:

Joan Cusack, Ray Liotta, Calista Flockhart, Tony Shalhoub, Toni Collette, Alec Baldwin, Matthew Broderick

Still do not know why I cannot convert it.

Any thoughts?

I would first rip the DVD to harddisk with the latest DVD Decrypter in IFO mode

Then I'd concentrate on backing these files up.
If there's something weird about this disk, some kind of copy protection or bad sectors or whatever, you will encounter it working with Decrypter.
Using the GordianKnot suite

I would then open up the VOBs with DGIndex, and when it makes its pass it will ID any other issues with the VOBs.
Then, once you get a good D2V file (and identify your DVD as Progressive or interlaced or telecined) there should be no stopping you in your backup of this flick.
