I have a 1.6 box. I created a bios disk with Flashbios 3.03 v4983.67 as a 1mb bios.bin file and a dummy 100mb file. The flashing started fine (bank 1) and then the box turned off like normal when it finished flashing. When I turned the box back on, it turns on and off twice before FRAGGING. If I disable the chip the box boots normally. Also, I have tried booting using the second bank and I get the same thing. Have I hosed the chip? If not, what can I do. Thanks :)

Does your chip have more than two banks? Are you using an xecuter chip with your xecuter bios? If you have any banks available you can safely flash your chip with a 256k bios called M8_+16 that can be extracted from Slayer's auto installer v2.6 found at xbins. make sure you have Flash FXP and the password to get onto xbins irc channel.
The FRAGging is probably the bad BIOS (bad inputs and Outputs)that is telling your XBOX something isn't booting up correctly. Bad bioses can be the culprit. If possible, delete them and try with the new BIOS. M8_+16 is v1.6 compatible.

Sorry for being vague about the chip. Yes, it's an xecuter 2.6 lite chip. It only has two banks, both of which have the "wrong" bios in them now. The only way I'm about to even get the xbox to boot now is if I disable the chip and when I do that, I don't think I can modify the bios at that point. :-\

x2_4983 is not compatible with 1.6 xbox, that is why you have a frag...you need to use the m8 bios or the x2_5028 (make sure whichever you use is the 1.6 version)


and since you flashed both banks with the x2 4983 your chip is now useless to your xbox...the only way to fix it would be to buy a programmer to put the correct bios onto the chip.

Do you know where I can get a programmer for the Xecuter 2.6 and the difficultly level on flashing the bios with it? Or would it be better just to get another 2.6 chip?

it is up to you man...you can get a new chip if you would like, but i don't think programmers cost very much...but it is your choice...pretty sure www.system-mods.com has the programmer you are looking for...if you do decide to get a new chip, either pm me or start a new thread and i will walk you through the flash process for the x2.6 and a 1.6 xbox, it is a bit tricky...that way you will not have to deal with a bad flash.

the same thing happened to me a few years ago. Flashed x2.6 lite+ and it fragged. I bought a flasher for 15.00 i think the are 10.00 now. It worked like a charm. Never bought another mod chip since.

Ok, well I purchased a programmer for the xecuter 2.6... I followed all the instructions found @ http://www.xbox-modchips.com/tutorials/x2v6-programmer-help.htm

Everything follows with the tut up to the point where I use one of the programs used for flashing. I have tried both iXia & X2 Bios Manager. Neither one of them will detect the Xecuter. I'm about to install windows 2000 on my box because I read there was issues with XP. If any one has advice I would appreciate it!!

i dunno if win 2000 works....way back when i used old ass win98. I think the newer versions are compatible with xp. Should be able to find it straight off team-xecuter's website...
