My idea would be something to let you know
you have a 'private message'.
The only way that I know of to tell is by going to 'private messages'
or checking my email.
Maybe there should be a little spot on every page that would
tell you that you have a new message.
(As long as you were logged in to the forums of course).
I have been here 6 months now and for me its been great.
I have learned a lot and helped a lot people as well.
I think this could take A/D to the next level.
Thank you for reading my post.
and i will leave you with Paris Hilton and the six dollar burger.
Thanks for the suggestion. Its one of the ideas that I've had myself as well. Only reason why I haven't implemented it so far is the fact that we just few weeks ago managed to get most of our stuff located to the new server farm and the previous one simply didn't have the oomph to handle one additional database request per page that it would take to check the new private messages for users.
But yep, I'll think about this one and most likely will add it quite soon. Any ideas where it would be most logical to show the "You have unread private messages" text?
You could put it where ever you want as you are the boss!!!
At the top or even at the bottom where the new user count is.
(Which I think is an awesome addition as well.)
Thats why its so MUCH better than Invision P.B. or the like.
Thanks for listening, and always changing and updating the site,
I know you put a lot of time ard hard work into these forums.
And it shows.
Keep up the good work boss :)
And I leave you with exerpts from my last FAMILY hunting trip.
i hadn't really thought about it as i have a Blackberry for work so i get instant email 24/7, but of course it sees more use beeping at me when ppl reply to my afterdawn replies, than boring work mails..
:)
i'll blatantly quote Jizmak -
